How do I contact GMAC Bank?

To contact our Customer Care Department:

How do I make a deposit into my account?

You can make deposits into your GMAC Bank Online Savings account or your Money Market account(s):

  • Electronic Funds Transfer

    Transfers can be made from internal accounts or external accounts. You may make an electronic transfer only after you have registered an external account with GMAC Bank. To complete an electronic transfer, simply login with the ID and password that you created. Transfers can be setup as a one-time event or recurring. Our Customer Care Department (1-866-246-2265) can also process electronic transfers. You’ll need to provide the routing number and your account number from the bank where you will be transferring funds. Once your account is verified, your funds will be available upon receipt of the deposit. As an added feature, you can use this service for a one-time transfer or set it up for recurring payments at intervals of your choice.

  • Wire Transfer

    To wire money to your account, provide the name of the institution from which the funds will transfer, along with the GMAC Bank routing number (031176136) and your GMAC Bank account number. Wired funds are available immediately.

  • Send in your Deposit

    Fill out the deposit slip with the date and amount of your deposit. Then place the deposit slip and endorsed check in an envelope and mail to: GMAC Bank P.O. Box 13625, Philadelphia, PA 19101–3625. Please do not send cash.

When will I start earning interest?

Interest begins to accrue on your account no later than the business day on which we receive your deposit.

Is my GMAC Bank VISA® Check Card Personal Identification Number (PIN) different than my Automated Telephone Banking PIN?

Initially the two numbers will be different. However, the first time you use the Automated Telephone Banking System, you will be prompted to change your PIN. At this time you can reset the number to be the same as your GMAC Bank Check Card PIN, if you choose.

What do I do if I forget my GMAC Bank VISA® Check Card PIN?

Simply call our Customer Care Department at 1-866-246-BANK (1-866-246-2265). Upon confirmation of your identity, a new PIN will be mailed to you.

What do I do if I forget my Automated Telephone Banking PIN?

You may log on to gmacbank.com and change your PIN or you may call our Customer Care Department at 1-866-246-BANK (1-866-246-2265), and we will promptly reset your PIN.

How do I order additional checks or deposit slips?

There are two ways to order additional checks or deposit slips: online or by phone. To order online, simply login to your account and click “Account Services” on the left navigation bar. From the drop-down list, choose “Order Center” and select the items you wish to order. If you would prefer to order by phone, call our Customer Care Department at 1-866-246-BANK (1-866-246-2265) to place your order.

Can I use my GMAC Bank VISA® Check Card at any ATM?

Your card may be used at any ATM with the VISA®, STAR® or PLUS® symbol.

What do I do if I need to dispute a transaction on my statement?

If you believe that your statement is incorrect, or you need additional information about a transaction, send a letter within 60 days of receiving the statement in question. Be sure to include your name, account number, the dollar amount of the transaction and an explanation of why you believe there is an error. Mail your letter to: GMAC Bank Customer Care Dept., P.O. Box 951, Horsham, PA 19044. Please read your account agreement and billing statement for details concerning billing disputes.

Is GMAC Bank affiliated with GMAC?

Yes, GMAC Bank is a part of the GMAC family of companies.

Can I download my account information into into Microsoft Money® or Quicken®?

Yes. GMAC Bank currently supports downloading into the Microsoft Money® and Quicken® for Windows personal financial software. Quicken versions supported include product year versions 2006 and higher.

Is GMAC Bank FDIC-insured?

Yes, GMAC Bank is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation up to $250,000 per depositor.  On October 3,2008, FDIC deposit insurance temporarily increased from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2009.
